On January 29, 2026, SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins
delivered remarks at a joint SEC-CFTC “Project
Crypto” harmonization event emphasizing the
need for closer coordination between the two
agencies in regulating digital assets. He stated
that crypto markets no longer fit neatly within
traditional regulatory boundaries and called
for ending past jurisdictional conflicts in favor
of a cooperative framework that provides
clarity, consistency, and investor protection.
